Defile 14 Juillet 2024 Paris
A very early heads up, which we noticed while attending this event in 2023. The French media is reporting that because of the Olympics in Paris in 2024, the actual Bastille Day parade will take place in a different location to normal. This was announced by Macron at this year's event.
The parade will take place between Vincennes and La Nation.
The article that states this can be seen here [it is in French]

Change of plans.
https://www.leparisien.fr/paris-75/14-j ... R2OVEA.php
Flight direction will be more Southwest-Northeast (was Northwest-Southeast)
Will be interesting to know in which direction they go (west-east or visa versa).
And to find a good spot with some few on the aircraft.

So the defilé is on the Avenue Foch between the Arc de Triomphe and the Boulevard Périphérique.Due to the Olympic Games, the traditional July 14 parade must leave the Champs-Élysées.
An alternative route, between Porte de Vincennes and Nation, had been announced, but, faced with “logistical and technical difficulties”, the very chic Avenue Foch (16th century) won.

Re: Defile 14 Juillet 2024 Paris
From:Due to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the July 14 military parade will not take place on the Champs Élysées this year, but on Avenue Foch (Paris 16th).
The various rehearsals for the flypast take on new importance. The first rehearsal for the 2024 edition of the July 14 parade will take place on June 17, 2024. The crews of the planes and helicopters (patrol and device leaders) who will parade above Avenue Foch will participate that day at a briefing, which will be held at the Ministry of the Armed Forces in Balard. The crews will then carry out a reconnaissance of the flypast axes aboard helicopters. This reconnaissance is planned from the Valérie André heliport, located in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
The general rehearsal for the flypast will take place on July 3 at Air Base 123 “Charles Paoli” in Orléans-Bricy. This essential moment allows all crews to be ready for D-Day on Avenue Foch and offers a life-size preview of the flypast, in which around sixty aircraft will participate.
A final rehearsal for the flypast in Paris (Arc de Triomphe) will take place on July 10. It should allow the leaders of each aircraft and helicopter patrol as well as their number 2 to practice marching along the axis of Avenue Foch. The top of the Arc de Triomphe offers a unique view of the entire aircraft system

So, with this all in mind what would be the best spot to position for photos (preferably side shots)?

Evreux AFB will not welcome fighter jets this year, I don't know where they will be based.

Re: Defile 14 Juillet 2024 Paris
Things are a bit different this year.
https://www.terre.defense.gouv.fr/gmp/a ... illet-2024
Flying is over Avenue Foch from northeast to south west.
And number of aircraft is much lower then previous years (apart from Covid year)
Should be something like this (provisional list)
At 10.49 first
6 aircraft (Atla Be350 PC-6 Fokker 100)
23 helicopters (all forces)
At 11.34
39 aircraft comprising:
7 large transporters
15 fighters
6 navy aircraft Rafale and E-2 (although also 8 Rafale are mentioned)
2 USA fighters (to be confirmed )
9 PdF at the end

Re: Defile 14 Juillet 2024 Paris
Still a nice list for a weekend day out. I heared that Orleans will be hosting some fixed wing participants. Also, this lay out would be somewhat less challenging for photographers. First of all, PdF is the closing act, so no problems with their smoke curtain. And the light (if any) is better as they are coming from the northeast and heading southwest.
I would love to know though if any static displays can be expected in other parts of the city, as Les Invalides is unlikely to be used.

Re: Defile 14 Juillet 2024 Paris
If you follow the link in my earlier post there is a link to.the .pdf with the complete list of participants and all participating units.
it still chances a bit.
Now an US F-16 and F-35 as well.as a BoB Lancaster and RAF Typhoon will participate.
No mentioning of static participant only a PdF Alpha Jet.at Les Invalidés with stands of different forces.
I guess only on the terrain of les Invalidés and not in front at the roads and grass.

Added the link as the old one doesn't seem to work.

Re: Defile 14 Juillet 2024 Paris
So, based on the alternative route over Paris and all the information above, I'm still searching for the best spot to position myself on the 14th in Paris for capturing the flypast. Who else is looking into this, and have you managed to identify a suitable spot already? Quite eager to get some input on this one, since I'm still undecided on where to stand.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

Re: Defile 14 Juillet 2024 Paris
Anyone found an ideal location?
I'm think the roundabout at Rte de la Muette à Neuilly at the Bois de Boulogne, which is bit more open compared to city
