Lisbon (LPPT/LIS) 2023 MIL

Post by Shirley »

Hi all,

I was enjoying the beach near Lisbon yesterday under the approach of Lisbon airport. Arrivals in the afternoon were;
16:40 C-130 91-9141
17:30 falcon 50 17401
18:00 C-130 ?

Does anyone have any information on the last Hercules? Didn’t seem to go to Montijo but Lisbon and was lighter grey compared to the USAF Herc. It didn’t show on ADSB.

Thanks!!

Listened back ATC files, and i,m pretty sure you did see a Portuguese C130, callsign Ocean32 checked in with approach around 16.40z. indeed nothing on ADSB etc.
For the record, the USAF C130 went into Alverca.

According the Lisbon airport system, C-130 16805 landed at 17.56 on the 16th. Portuguese Hercs don't show up on ADSB anymore, not sure why. I see them regularly climbing out, but nothing on the radars.
And indeed the Yank went to Alverca, as well as Austrian 8T-CA earlier in the day. Usualy they make an approach on Lisbon, then break off for an approach on Alverca.

No MRTT landed today. What did come in at 16h was A340 7T-VPP. Will leave on Wednesday.

Very exotic one this morning, although technically not a visitor as it approached LIS, then lined up for landing at Alverca:
K3602 ERJ.135BJ Indian AF

But dep was really from Alverca. It was here on maintenance from at least May/June (when I first saw it pinging), possibly a few months longer. The K3601 was on maintenance before and left in November. Perhaps next the K3603?

Crazy town today:
167924/QB KC-130J VMGR352 dep
169536/QB KC-130J VMGR352 dep
16-5873/LI HC-130J 102RQS arr
17-5870/LI HC-130J 102RQS arr

Never saw 4 Hercs here on one day. Well, technically I still haven't, because I caught the Marines when they arrived on Sunday. No idea yet when the Air Force birds will leave.

More interesting visitors today, two Colombian B737s:
1219 C-40 Esc 811
1222 C-40 Esc 811

The 1219 arrived in fact yesterday evening, then continued to Tel Aviv and came back today and may do another overnight trip to Tel Aviv. The 1222 arrived in the morning from Colombia and left again in the afternoon to Lajes.

And for good measure:
2585 VC-99B departed to LBG
HZ-MF2 B737 is now inbound
2858 KC-390 is also inbound from Tel Aviv for a fuel stop in darkness
