3rd CAB taking over from 1st AD CAB (10th AB rotation Atlantic Resolve)

Post by Sjoerd »

After a thorough search, I could not find any dedicated topic yet, so let's start this one now things are starting to kick-off!

Official news releases:
https://www.army.mil/article/261698/arm ... t_rotation
https://www.army.mil/article/265184/3rd ... e_rotation
https://www.dvidshub.net/image/7648493/ ... operations

As per latest link, the helicopters were already in Jacksonville port from Feb-14th! 27th of March saw the ceremonial "goodbye" and it is noted that vessel Endurance left the port of Jacksonville yesterday. This is the same vessel that took 3rd CAB over to Europe in 2018, and many other CAB's as well.

https://www.marinetraffic.com/nl/ais/de ... :ENDURANCE

The vessel is expected to arrive in Riga the 25th of April.

The big question now is, are the helos onboard, and if so...where will it drop them off?

For moving the 3 CAB into Europe the ports of Riga, Esbjerg and Thessaloniki will be used according the official press release on the website from USARMY Europe and Africa.

https://www.europeafrica.army.mil/Artic ... orts-in-d/

Nothing is said about the unit that will return to the USA and which ports will be used for that.

Pieter,
Hey Pieter,

Nice addition. Did you see these arrive or have you seen actual footage? If so, where these HH or UH ones? *55 could be UH-60L 27055, HH-60M 20355 or, and my best guess UH-60M 20455.

Hi Sjoerd, radio/ ADSB is my source, should have mentioned that, never been in Bulgaria :)

Others heard while listening back from yesterday are :
R20601, 5x : 20601/20353/20354/08460/08461, last ones CH47F's off course.
R20457, 5x : 20457/20395/20428/20386/20396.
R03335, 5x : 03335/03325/03337/03338/08455, last one CH47F again.

ATC asked R20361 who was missing, as they filed for a flight of 5. R20361 leader advised 20431 as the missing one, guess that one was left behind in Greece.

Sjoerd,
See you have 20817 in your list, i noticed this one on FR24 on the 21st doing a return flight from Volos to the port of Thessaloniki and back. Acc to the Scramble dbase this one should belong to 3-501st AVN. All the other army's are flying from the port of Thessaloniki to the airport, coincidence?

One more to add, R20360 did about 4 or 5 flights from the Port to the Airport yesterday the 21st acc to FR24 playback.
