Hello Rene and Xander
Thank you for posting the log, i am heading that way in June so the listing will be helpful.
Regarding the AVES Museum, do you have to contact someone to gain access to it, or can you just turn up and ask. I have tried googling it and cannot find any answers, so your first hand knowledge would be gratefully appreciated.
Kind regards Graham

Re: Viterbo LIRV 2023
All the helicopters are visible from the outside. There is a small road which leads to a tennis court (N42.425102, E12.072523) We needed to climb a tree to see them all, so it really takes some effort, but it is possible. Not that great for the photographers among us.
Good luck and enjoy your trip in June

Re: Viterbo LIRV 2023
Thanks René and Xander for posting, I am planning a short stop April 27th here.
Are the Max Aviation hangars with the P68s accesable or did you arrange a visit?
No new AB412 pres near Viterbo south gate seen?
Were the active heli's at south seen over the wall, or crash gate north or from the hill south (to spot the dump)?

Re: Viterbo LIRV 2023
I was today here from 12.30-13.00h:
Saw all the std Chinooks, 2x P-180 Esercito on ramp and 1 Do-228. Last must be MM62157 as 156 was in Cagliari and 158 in Pisa at that time! IEI2869 (MM62169) P180 dep 15.15h to Ciampino from here.
Four UH-90 and some ICH-47F were seen on ramp and 2 AW169 flying, 1 photographed (5M-IA) as being Austrian AF.
5M-IA was on ADSB as ASF95 and 5M-IB as ASF96 a bit later.
Aeroclub:
Outside nose to west: P68OBS PS-B13 and the grey FTB.337 N337GH. And civil SF-260 I-ROLL.
In front of those were 2 ex Polizia P68OBS with overtaped serials. Same as above in March?
Yellow A-109E I-PNTP from Elitaliana took off parked next to tower north
Viterbo south I saw 1 AB205 behind the crash gate E.I.28(6?)
AB206 E.I.583 landed at 13hrs
The 2 gate guards (B.47 and L-18) and the museum heli's over the wall were seen. Dump was not visited, no time for!

Re: Viterbo LIRV 2023
Hi,
Am reading of many reports from Viterbo of the CH-47Cs stored with few coinciding. I feel I have to throw some further confusion as whilst the reading from the eastern road to the civilian side is possible, it is the fin markings that are normally noted. Be aware that from the civilian airfield they may not match and for example I can clearly see from a photo that EI.800 as reported has 820 on the nose. This is usually the first reported being the most easterly. And am not sure that 819 nose code has that EI.819 on the fin. This is just a thought as the reading of these codes may be dependant upon where the reader was and may be advisable to be noted.
Looks like I may have to settle for the pale ones only as stopping on the eastern road was not felt to be happy-making.
Best
