Nope, 'what followed' has no end date, we will continue in this topic. Title adapted to be more precise.Stratofreighter wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 21:40 New year, new thread.
The way things are going there will probably be a "2024-thread" in a year's time...

There is a helicopter base at Berdyansk airport with Mi-28 and Mi-8.
https://twitter.com/RedIntelPanda/statu ... 2901880835
The base is subordinated of Dzhankoj helicopter base south on Crimea.
The airport also holds radar site with radars and a SAM site with S-300 SAM missiles. (prepared as old SA-2 base).

Don't know to what extend this is related to the war in Ukraine :

Poland reportedly delivered MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine as ‘spare parts’
Poland has already delivered operational MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in secret, local media has reported.
Since the initial invasion of Ukraine by Russia,
Ukrainian authorities have been asking their allies for the delivery of combat aircraft, both Soviet and Western.
In March 2022, shortly after the beginning of the war,
a plan to transfer the whole Polish fleet of MiG-29 fighters officially fell through,
after Poland and the United States failed to reach an agreement.
“It cannot be that Poland is the only NATO country to bear the risk,
and other countries would not have to compensate or share it with us in any way;
we will continue to talk with our allies about MiG-29 planes,”
Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Pawel Jablonski told Polish media on March 9, 2022.
Days later, the Ukrainian Air Force said that it had not officially received any new aircraft from its allies,
only spare parts,
and components that helped in the restoration and repair of its current fleet.
However, it now appears that several complete MiG-29 fighters were transferred to Ukraine by Poland during that period.
The claims were first reported by the local daily paper Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, citing governmental sources.
The fighters were allegedly delivered disassembled, labeled as spare parts.
‘The fuselage or wings are also a spare part,’ the sources commented.
The exact method used to ferry the aircraft was not disclosed,
though with the Ukrainian airspace closely monitored by Russia,
it is likely that they were transferred by train.

Russia to reportedly mark Ukraine invasion anniversary with massive air assault
2023-02-14
Russian military is amassing a force of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft along the border and the frontline with Ukraine
in preparation for a large-scale air assault, reports suggest.
The assault could be timed to coincide with the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine,
which was launched on February 24, 2023.
According to the Financial Times,
two US intelligence officials confirmed the preparation for the assault
and added that reports are being shared among NATO allies.
“The Russian land forces are pretty depleted
so it’s the best indication that they will turn this into an air fight,”
US defense secretary Lloyd Austin was quoted as saying by the Financial Times.
The possibility of the impending assault
prompted NATO countries to speed up the deliveries of various air defense systems to Ukraine,
the Financial Times added.
On February 21, 2023 the Russian president Vladimir Putin will deliver his ‘state of the nation’ address to the country’s Federal Assembly.
The fact that the address is going to be delivered
a few days before the anniversary of the start of the invasion
prompted speculation regarding what Putin might announce.
Aerial stalemate
Although the ground war in Ukraine has been raging on with high intensity for almost a year now,
the aerial campaigns by both sides have been of little consequence.
The start of the invasion was marked by a significant,
but still weaker-than-expected Russian air campaign,
which included a helicopter assault on Hostomel airport near Kyiv
and resulted in large numbers of both Russian and Ukrainian aircraft shot down.
However,
as frontlines stabilized and both sides established powerful ground-based air defense (GBAD) networks,
close air support and deep strike missions became difficult for Russia and Ukraine.

Ukrainian border guards shot down an enemy warplane in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, on Sunday, February 12.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a Telegram post.
"Today, State Border Guard Service fighters reduced the invaders' air fleet by one combat aircraft.
This week, this is already the second confirmed jet destroyed by a MANPADS unit of the border guards.
An aerial target, probably a Su-25 attack aircraft, was hit with a foreign-made portable anti-aircraft missile system," the report reads.
The General Staff said the plane caught fire after being struck and crashed when it hit the ground.
The pilot seems to have died, as Ukrainian defenders did not see him ejecting, the General Staff added.

At 18:03, National Guardsmen shot down a Russian Su-24 aircraft near Bakhmut that was attacking Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements.
The guardsmen downed the Russian aircraft using a Piorun man-portable air-defence system.
"The guys hit the target with the first shot. The attack aircraft caught fire and then began to descend behind the line of contact, the fate of the pilots is unknown," the division commander with call sign 'Partizan' noted.
