In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Hi everybody!

On the way down to our vacation home, we made a nightstop at Chateauroux Airport. I took this opportunity, of course, for some photographing in lovely warm golden hour light.

For those planning a visit to CHR, it’s not as packed anymore as last year. The French E-3Ds are gone, as is quite some of the storage stuff. Which is a good thing as it means things are looking a bit better in the aviation world.

Anyway, here are the results of a quick drive next to the fence.

1. This Heston Airlines A330-200 LY-MAC is part of the fleet since February 2022 but hasn’t left Chateauroux yet. It has been here since December 2021 when it was phased-out by its previous user Aeroflot.

2. Close to the Heston were two A321s, now owned by SmartLynx Malta, like this 9H-CGE. They are slated for conversion into freighter and their previous operator can easily be guessed.

3. There are three A350-1000s for Qatar Airways at Chateauroux, including this F-WZFB. It will, however, most probably never be delivered to them as Airbus canceled the order due their dispute.

4. A350-1000 F-WZHI is destined for French Bee and has been at CHR since 2 June 2022. Will hopefully see delivery after summer:

5. Former Windrose Airlines A321 N827Q is now owned by lessor Vallair and should be converted to a freighter.

6. And I’m ending this post with former Onur Air A321 N974M, also owned by lessor Vallair.

Never been there myself , but it's high on the list. Do you walk around the fence, and no problems with local uniformes....?
I have never drunk milk, and I never will . . . .

Yes, you just drive/walk into all the nooks and crannies at the hangars. As the sun is best in the late afternoon, I never experienced any issues as most working people are going home or are already gone as was this day.

Don’t expect too much then you are often pleasantly surprised!
