Obviously two new wings (squadrons?) of USAF F-35 are planned for the UK.

NEGATIVE
always the two Squadrons planned for LN (493 & 495)

In the United Kingdom, we are increasing our fifth-generation fighter presence and ability to support Allies across Europe by forward-stationing two squadrons of F-35s at RAF Lakenheath

Yes I know this. But why they say they will deploy two more squadrons, when this was already published some months ago and was a replacement only? Politicians…!

The official statement is clear

NOW - ''we are increasing our fifth-generation fighter presence''
TARGET - ''forward-stationing two squadrons of F-35s at RAF Lakenheath''

the rest is the interpretation of the usual ignorant journalists

It is not as much interpretation as much as it is simple fact checking. If they did that, they would have found that it is in fact old news.
Answers will be questioned.....

I fail to understand the (strategic) rationale behind basing USAF F-35's in the UK, with NATO's borders to Putin's Russia well out of range. Would make much more sense to have them in mainland Europe...?

Well, they also fly missions from Spangdahlem to the east. And it’s also possible to get them forward deployed from Lakenheath to the east

Not exactly as I meant it, but if there are going to be additional squadrons at the Heath, then why not a revival of the 32FS (with LN tailcode) 8)
