Work needed me to be at Tempe (AZ) in early March and, being a good spotter and all, managed to work in some good time in my schedule for some aircraft hunting.
Anyway, I arrived at Los Angeles (CA) on Saturday 5 March, picked up my rental, and made my way to Tempe (AZ). With a proper detour, with my first night being at Victorville (CA). The drive to Victorville was quite interesting as it was really windy and even included snow!
I arrived late afternoon at Victorville and made a first run. With light fading quickly but also a lot of sand due to the wind, I wrapped-up quickly, went for dinner in the town and then to the hotel. Being awake for 22 hours was starting to get to me as well.
The next day, on Sunday 6 March, jetlag ensured an early rise and I made a tour again of the airport. The weather was sunny but cold (0 C) but with no wind more than OK. Not so OK were the very active guys from Alliance Security which prevented me from taking pictures at the Northwest corner of the airport where you could find the DETA DC-10 and the former SAAF B707… And with active I mean driving in front of the fence where I was standing and telling me to move etc.
Despite this, I did managed to take some interesting pictures, so here’s my selection of these two tours:
1. This Delta B717 N947AT was not at Victorville but for some maintenance and left shortly after my visit and is happily flying:

2. One of the many MAXs at VCV was this B737-8 N40219, which was originally destined for S7 Airlines:

4. With deliveries of new B787 on hold, many newly built Dreamliners are present, like this B787-9 B-20EP for China Southern:

6. Delta has acquired this former LATAM A350-900 and it’s already registered N573DZ:

7. There are also quite some B777-200s of United present, like this N218UA in the Star Alliance-livery:

9. Three former Etihad B777-300ERs are also parked at VCV, one of which is this former A6-ETM. It is owned by a lessor and registered in Austria but the new registration has not been applied (yet):

11. Nice to catch the former Boeing EcoDemonstrator B777-200 N772ET. As it was way too close to the fence, I needed to resort to an iPhone picture:

12. Brand new B787-10 VN-A878 for Vietnam awaiting things to come:

16. Former KLu KDC-10 T-235 is now owned by Omega Air Tankers and registered N235UL. The registration is, however, not applied and the tanker still wears the 75 years 334sq decals on the tail. You can see the former T-264 as well in this picture which is now N264DE and has received titles:
