He stated that the F-35 is a likely candidate, which is not yet a 100% confirmation.

The fact that European neighbours either operate or ordered F-35s, is often mentioned as one of the factors that supported the German decision in favour of the F-35.

35 F-35A will replace the Tornado IDS of TLwG 33. The Super Hornet will not entering the Luftwaffe.
Later 15 Eurofighter ECR will replace the Tornado ECR of TLwG 51. If there will be perhaps more ECR later for a second Staffel (Sqn) in the wing is not known. It it possible that the Staffel will get some Tranche 4A Eurofighter GT for training.
Lechfeld will now not get a detachment of LTG 62, a „Lufttransportgruppe“ (air transport group) in a multinational unit.

Re: 100 Mrd. for Bundeswehr
In an special programme to bolster des Bundeswehr Markus Söder of Land Bayern send a application to the Bundesrat.
Concerning flying components are the following:
- Buying a high amount of H145M for the "Heeresflieger" and making it combat capable with wepaons
- Buying an available STH to replace the CH-53
- Replacing the Tornado with F-35A (also F-18, but this was ruled out yeasterday)
- Accelerate the developing of a Eurofighter ECR and to replace the Tornado ECR
- Upgrade of the Tiger UHT fleet and buying additonal combat helicopters (H145M or AH-64)
- Installation of a second LTG with A400M in southern Germany
Time will tell, if the Bundestag and Bundesrat will make the way free!

Re: 100 Mrd. for Bundeswehr
Best option, replace Tiger and NH90 fleets completely.
2020: Only 20 out of 152 German Tiger and NH90 helicopters ready for action
Source: Bundeswehr.

Re: 100 Mrd. for Bundeswehr
The following further procurements will now made during the next years:
- an additional seven P-8A to the five already ordered Poseidons
- additionaly utility helicopters H145M (some years earlier the amount of 60 was in the plan, 45 for the three Heeresfliegerregiments (15 each) and 15 for the Luftwaffe)
It has to be seen if one of the MFG 5 NH90 squadrons (out of 18 NH90NTH Sea Lion and 31 NH90NFH Sea Tiger) could or will relocate to another base when fully operational as Nordholz could become somewhat crowded.
Hohn was used as a temporary base by the German Navy helicopters during the last months (SAR Sea King, regularly visits by NH90 and Sea Lynx) and nearby Alt Duvenstedt is already used by parts of the Marine Seebataillon. TLwG 51 at Jagel is the command unit at Hohn at the moment.

Re: 100 Mrd. for Bundeswehr
mentioned here already https://www.scramble.nl/community/messa ... /48/163967
Which raises the question, if this thread really belongs here in Spotting Germany, or in Military Aviation News?
