Hi,
Checking the nice article Ukrainian MiG-29s from Erwin Dijkman in Scramble 503 (april'21), I was looking for what happend to the Ukrainian Falcons I saw July 1997 in Fairford.
Scramble Showreport says 101 wh was c/n 31222.
This article says for 31222:
105 wh Ukr.Falcons noted may97-aug97; to bort number 101 wh noted sep99 and now still act as 40 wh with 40 BrTA.
But c/n 31232 says:
101 wh Ukr Falcons noted ..; to bort number 101 blue; noted may97-aug97 (Fairford jul97); to bort number 105 wh no reports; ....; still act as 06 wh with 40 BrTA.
All other 5 are mentioned as seen Fairford jul97 (and most still act!)
Can it be c/n 31232 was in Fairford and NOT 31222 ??
Anyone can help please?
Erik

Re: REQ: Ukrainian Falcons MiG-29 c/n mix-up 1997?
Hi Erik,
This is one of many problem cases.
The overlapping histories are not correctly given in the article stemming from the original (confusing) database entry for 31232 that actually said '101 blue Fairford may97'.
I agree that life would be a lot simpler (and more logical) if 31222 was always 105 white or blue and 31232 was always 101 white or blue.
But the 101 white was checked at Fairford as 31222 and in 1999 that c/n was tied to 105 white at Hradec Kralové.
If I tidy it up a bit and delete some of the unconfirmed information, this will be the narrative:
31222
101 white may97, jul97 (Fairford, checked), aug97, to 105 white, sep99 (Hradec Kralové, checked), to 105 blue, aug00
31232
105 white may97, aug97, to 101 white, sep99 (Hradec Kralové, not checked), to 101 blue, jun01
So, confirmation of any checks would be nice, or else we have to accept the above narrative
best regards,
Erwin

Thanks Erwin.
So 31222 was checked at Fairford 97 and is correct. Another mistery cleared!
