Getting back to those c/n's on the tail, I logged these:
NH-90TTH 78+36 THR 30 c/n TGEA 0036
NH-90TTH 78+37 THR 30 c/n TGEA 0037
NH-90TTH 78+39 THR 30 c/n TGEA 0039
NH-90TTH 79+02 THR 30 no HEER markings c/n GAF 009
NH-90TTH 79+10 THR 10 no unit and HEER markings, no c/n visible on the right-hand side.
NH-90TTH 79+15 THR 30 c/n TGEE 015
As for 79+10, photo's from Dino van Doorn confirm it has a GAF xxx c/n on the left-hand side but due to the angle we can't make out the numbers…
Cheers,
Bas

Deelen 2-10-2018
Today's log; Tuesday 2-10-2018 @14:45-15:15LT
.
Departing in formation during this half hour were:
4x NH90 79+15, 78+37, 79+11, 78+36
4x CH-47 D-663, D-680?(misread, probably D-666), D-667 and D-10.. and 2x AH-64 nn
.
Seen in their dispersals were:
4x AH-64 and NH90s 78+23, 79+02, 79+10 in covers (Germans look pretty wearing orange!)
.
So only 7 NH90s noted.
All s/n visual.
.
Tourist tips:
Walking the fence makes our German friends very nervous, (Dutch) patrols asked us several times to stay back from the fence.
For minimal annoyance and exposure (and maximum foto opportunity) walk the path all the way to the back and take the 2nd or 3rd cleared grassy area left towards the fence.
Best foto's taken in the morning (sun in the back) with a small step ladder.
Also Staatsbosbeheer seems to be actively patrolling their jurisdiction around the base for illegal access by foot & vehicle.

Just got word that Dino managed to identify 79+10 as GAF 017.

Re: Vliegbasis Deelen 2018
Someone from Natres even told me that in the weekend 1 person was arrested from climbing over the fence. Apparently for checking numbers.... What on earth are you doing then ?

I really have some problems believing this. I just can't believe that somebody is that stupid. You sometimes hear these kind of stories but I never saw any confirmation of it.Alpha Kilo One wrote:Someone from Natres even told me that in the weekend 1 person was arrested from climbing over the fence. Exactly, I guess it would have been known by now if 'one of us' would have been arrested.I really have some problems believing this. I just can't believe that somebody is that stupid. You sometimes hear these kind of stories but I never saw any confirmation of it.

I was there for about an hour on sunday morning, 11-ish, combining spotting with my sunday morning dog walk . I saw at least 10 other spotters in that period. All close to the fence, many with small step ladders. In that period, nobody was bothered, let alone asked to leave. And nobody I met there was so stupid to climb the fence .

Re: Vliegbasis Deelen 2018
Well, I was there yesterday afternoon, with my stepladder. I had a nice conversation with security (rode baretten). They asked not to stay too long at the fence because the Germans are getting nervous... “And don’t climb over the fence”, they said, with a big smile on their face. We laughed and they continued driving.Basman wrote:Exactly, I guess it would have been known by now if 'one of us' would have been arrested.I really have some problems believing this. I have a feeling the Germans are not used to our attention and the presence of stepladders they might think we Will climb over the fence, what is a ridiculous idea of course.
I think just stay a little low profile and set up your stepladder only when you need it. And enjoy, nice pictures can be made when coming back from morning mission.

'Bison 21' just departed from Eindhoven for a para drop over Deelen: short KLu Herc, so either G-781 or G-988.

Re: Vliegbasis Deelen 2018
When you park your car at the parkingplace at te Hoenderloseweg and you'll enter the Veteranenbos you'll have to follow the path which makes a sharp turn to the right, further a sharp turn to the left and then you'll come at a sort of roundabout with all memory signs and here you'll have to go right and follow that path. When walking on this path there are a few times on your left no trees but only grass and walk there towards the fence. Good luck and maybe till tomorrow.
