Re: Athens Eleftherios Venizelos (LGAV/ATH) 2018 MIL
Ah, I see. So may I assume they came from Mildenhall? Any idea where I can find the news about the fighter jets? The KC-135 arrived from Mildenhall but with a GOLD callsign. Should be picking up jets right now for continuing East relieving GOLD91 which was dragging them from Lajes. The KC-10 might ...

Re: Chania (Souda Bay) LGSA/CHQ 2018 MIL
The A-10's left already (last 6, Saturday morning), along with GOLD71 (KC-10/84-0189). The F-16's were there Saturday morning. Not sure about the number of aircraft though. Other interesting aircraft these days, the RAF RC-135 (ZZ666), FAA CL601 (N86) and a "long" USN Hercules (C-130T-30/1...

Re: Chania (Souda Bay) LGSA/CHQ 2018 MIL
Following up to the question on how rare is to have 9 fighters at Souda, I would comment that the actual rare thing was to have 6 tankers at Souda. And I will have another question: How often you see the GOLD KC-10's being all airborn during the night under a QUID callsign? Not difficult to find rel...

Re: Chania (Souda Bay) LGSA/CHQ 2018 MIL
Make the KC-135's three, since QUID285 (59-1511) landed about one and a half hour after the first two. The F-18's are not at Souda anyway, but even if they were, that wouldn't be something unusual. When USN/USMC Squadrons are deployed, there might be up to 12 fighters for a couple of days at Souda. ...

Re: Chania (Souda Bay) LGSA/CHQ 2018 MIL
Hi all. Any Souda Bay spotters here? Would anyone be able to catch VVYD56 due in today from Rota please? I believe it to be a VPU-2 Special Projects P3 wearing a fake BuNo. They are externally different to normal P3C models in that they have a different HF array which go from the sides of the fusel...

Re: Lajes (Azores) LPLA/TER - 2018 MIL
Thanks for the info Thunderbolt. They are at Souda right now, by the way.
Actually 162228 was in full VMAQ-3 paint, but 163032 looked like being in a "changing insignia" mode. So, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a last minute transfer to VMAQ-2.

Re: Lajes (Azores) LPLA/TER - 2018 MIL
Photos from Lajes show VMAQ-3 aircraft again. It was supposed that last year was their final deployment, but it seems rumors were wrong. Gold12 moved across the Mediterranean on Sunday. Any clue about the movement and next stop of Gold 11 and the Mazda flight? Last year they stopped to Souda, leavin...

Gold92, which was part of the second Flight did not depart Souda yesterday, but it was re-scheduled for today.Thunderbolt wrote:Only 6 F16s AL arrived today at Lajes
With Gold91 being already airborn, it seems the second Flight is moving today.

Expected Saturday 20 January: Two flights from Rota, they seem to be KC-135s looking at their destination https://spacea.polarpunks.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/26731519_1058740230935177_80326285436519042_n.jpg Well, from previous experience, the first part of the trip (Souda-Rota) will be execut...

N532TX made another short stop at Souda today, on its way back from Dubai Air Show. QUID 742 and QUID 743 departed this morning to Mildenhall. MAZDA 81-85 flight arrived today. They were F-18's but no logs available. I assume they will depart the following days West bound. Any further info is apprec...
