2 New C130's at Ramstein

Post by Rene Peteri »

Following 2 C130's arrived at Ramstein on June 17th and are flying local missions within 37th AS since July 1st.

Probably they are TDY added or additions / replacements of other Ramstein Herky's. Concerns following 2 aircraft:
04-8153 arr as RCH551
05-8156 arr as RCH659

Both (ex?) 403rd AW

It indeed looked like new arrivals for the 37th AS. Both were last weekend parked at the 37th AS ramp. On this ramp were also all other 14 37th AS C-130Js noted (8601-8614 +3142 except 8606) so no other C-130J has left the 37th AS (yet?)

Both 815th AS Hercs still had all their 815th AS/403rd AW markings applied. This unit is slated for deactivation by 1 October 2013. It was planned that all its hercs would go to Pope AFB but now it seems that some will go to Ramstein as well. Tme will tell if some 37th AS hercs will end at Pope AFB.

Both left again on the 15-8, using Reach callsigns, back to CONUS. Looks like they were only here in support of African Command.

Last Tuesday 2 Dyess C-130J's arrived. So these might be replacements for the two that left Thursday. All four were parked on the 37th AS ramp on Thursday morning.
