The 109 serial number Mi-24 came to Hungary in 1978 and flew out it's time in 1995, after that till the closure of the Air Base at Szentkirályszabadja, it was a gate guard till 2004. After that it was moved to Pápa AFB. Last year the people at the air base had an idea to restore it. This week I had the chance to see it myself. The color scheme is unique, since it is the Russian Factory Color Scheme as it arrived to Hungary. Also the roundel insignia is the one that was used between 1951-1990. Some little works still need and hopefully it will be finished for the summer.

Re: Restoring a Mi-24 in Hungary
It flew out its time, also when it became a gate guard in 1995 it "became" non-air worthy. It will be on display, possible gate quard at Pápa AFB.lawrence brincat wrote:Is it still in good flying condition?
