ETAR 29-03-2013
Main goal for my visit was the presence of the Afghan C-27s, which were all seen parked on the east-platform:
04095
84020
84025
84026
Following C-17s were seen moving between 13.00 and 14.30lt:
55141 452AMW
66160 60AMW
77174 436AW
88201 62AW
03 SAC
I would be happy to read which C-17 landed at around 14.40lt, just when I entered to highway back home.

Hi Gerard,
does "east-platform" mean the usual RS-Herc-ramp, which can well be overlooked from the 26/27-approach spotting point?
Regards

Yesterday all were parked on ramp 2, next to each other. That's the former delta opps platform with the hangars. So not ramp 1 were the Hercs are parked (which were almost all home, except the 2 at Stuttgart). Also on that platform around 1PM were 3 Blackhawks. Most probably the Ansbach ones that returned from their duty in Israel during the Obama visit last week.

Jeroen

Many thanks Jeroen.
So they are not really visible from "runway-level".

Oh yes they are. You can easily see them next in line from the east side of the base (landing). At the Kindsbach hill you have a tail-on view.TommyW wrote:Many thanks Jeroen.

Well, then check again! We all make mistakes, so do youStarfighter_F-104G wrote:I have 84095 not 04095
I said Afghan, not Afghan AF, that was meant to be a subtle difference! As a matter of fact they are DoD accepted, not even USAF.Starfighter_F-104G wrote:Thery aren't Afghan AF , only USAF accepted and now stored at ETAR pending future decision

Anyone for the C-130 that departed in the afternoon? I believe it was just before 1500hrs.
