Last Friday and Saturday Luxembourg : the son of the Grand Duke, Guillaume married belgian Stephanie de Lannoy.
For the wedding some Royals from Europe, Middle East and Asia visited Luxembourg.
Most of them by plane.
Yesterday it was departure time.
And, what a departure that was !!!
The runway of Luxembourg-Findel was due to be repaired on Saturday evening / night.
Unfortunately on Saturday morning it became clear they should have done that before all guests wanted to leave :
the runway turned out to be in a to bad a condition to allow aircraft to use it for both landing as take-off.
Luxembourg-Findel closed for some time.
LUXAIR flights were cancelled, inbound flights (among 2 expected 747-8s from Panalpina) diverted to for instance Cologne.
In the time the Royals arrived at their rides back home, the runway was quickly repaired.
And then finally at 16:30 o'clock the runway was opened again.
In no-time many VIPs left.
