ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

41sqn Olympic Special departs Lossie (Updated)

Post by Macc »

Updated with the rest now:

Having seen that there would be good weather and with the knowledge of the 41sqn jet departing it was an early start and a long day down at Lossie. It was a good though, with plenty of surprises too. The sun was hidden behind clouds for the first hour as a few jets started to return from their morning sortie but the sun came out as the 1,000,000 hours jet was returning and we were treated to a few circuits. There were a couple of other jets in the circuit too.

1. Including this lovely Dambusters marked jet.

2. One of sadly many unmarked jets.

4. Lots of interesting cloud formations too.

7. Then a few Victor callsigns appeared, a friend noticed they were transmitting clearly meaning they were likely to be Hawk T.2s. Having been after the IV(R)sqn 100th anniversary during Waddington and RIAT I was glad to finally get it.

8. Two other jets arrived aswell.

By now, the light was getting pretty bad for departure photos and with the wind changing I was desperate for them to change to 05 before the 41sqn jet to launch. A 41sqn callsign 'Rebel 84' arrived with a clean jet and the pilot for the Olympic special.

9. The 1,000,000 hours jet came back out too.

11. The IV(R)sqn special came out a couple of minutes before the 41sqn special. Sadly it came, as expected, down the far taxi-way. On the upside, a few friends over the other side caught it nicely! But I didn't want to risk the walk round, especially with my hayfever.

13. Friendly crews were all about with plenty of waves!

14. Then the other two Hawk T.2s came down the north side taxi-way, much to our surprise!
