Today was time for the famous PLAAF museum near Beijing in the village of Xiaotangshan. It was very hot and humid but a lot has changed since my last visit in 2004. Right now the outside part is free entrance. Only the new exhibition hall and the mountain tunnel have a entree fee (20RMB/2 euro). Many of the aircraft have been cleaned and it was well presented. Here already a few impressions, later more.

For 2 euros, it seems like a very nice place to visit!

4 euro's as the Tunnel and Exhibition Hall are charged seperate but still very affordable. The Tunnel is also rebuild with a larger exhibition section.Gietje wrote:For 2 euros, it seems like a very nice place to visit!

This seems like a great museum .
I will be going to Beijing later this year and I would like to visit this museum. Can you tell me the best way to get there by public transport?
Thanks in advance.

Better arrange a cab in your hotel, which waits for you during your visit (or invite the driver to come with you!). Both times I went that's what I did. Costs less than a train-ticket in NL. It's some 70 kms out of Beijing IIRC.

correct. That is also what I did and since the museum is on the way to the Great Wall (near Badaling) you can arrange a visit for both Museum and Great Wall in one day. A personal car with driver for whole day will cost you around 700-800RMB (about 70-80 euros). He will take you where you want and wait for you. For more information, just send me a PM.Mickey312 wrote:Better arrange a cab in your hotel, which waits for you during your visit (or invite the driver to come with you!).
