Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Bygone days, Aussies at Air Tattoo and in RTM 1977

Post by Sjaak »

After checking with interest Roel Reijne's excellent explanation on how to digitalize your slides using an SLR with a macro lens, tripod and lightbox (have a look yourself on http://www.foto-expositie.nl/tips.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) I decided to give it a try myself. Although not 100% satisfied yet the first results are quite reasonable.

These pics take you back 31 years in time in the UK when bases like Woodbridge and Bentwaters were still loaded with Phantoms, some of these could easlily be taken "through the fence".

This UK trip was planned around the Air Tattoo, then still at Greenham Common, although a fairly grey day the Australian visitors especially were worth the visit! About a month later some of these could even be seen in Rotterdam aboard the HMAS Melbourne. 1977 was also about the last chance to see French Super Mysteres operational..!

The USN C118 was at Mildenhall, taken from a shed in a backyard somewhere in Beck Row I believe...

Enjoy, comments and tips are always welcome.. :D

Thanks for your comments, this encouraged me to do a few more

As mentioned earlier in this topic the Australians in Rotterdam nearly a month later on the HMAS Melbourne.

Again credit to Roel Reijne for sharing his ideas on this. Apart from the website mentioned above an interesting article on "digitizing your slides" appeared in a previous edition of Scramble mag.
