Nice stuff, Frank. Although the distance does give me a 'detached' feeling, you got some neat compositions in there. I like the first KC a lot! And indeed picked the right weather for this kind of work. 8)

Thanks !

The Bismarckturm is a very nice spot to give you an overview of the airfield. You do need to have some big lenses though and i can recommend to bring a good tripod.

Marcel used his 500mm 2.8 L and and 1.4 extender mainly. Myself I took most shots with a 300mm 2.8 L + 2.0 extender, but even sometimes I added a 1.4 extender to that configuration which gave me (300mm * 2.0 extender * 1.4 extender * 1.3 enlargement factor = 1092mm :-))

The KC-135 picture was made with that configuration.

Hi Frank,
Really nice pics you've made.
I have one question did you also did some cropping with photoshop or are these the original pictures?

A currious question; were many of those pictures unscharp or is it quite easy for a trained photographer to hold this config :?:

Rene, Alex

I had to do a lot of photoshopping and no, these ones are not as sharp as "normal" ones. I used ISO 320 value to reach higher shutterspeeds (1/1000) and that gives grainy results, especially if you have to crop the images.

The Hercules pictures and the first KC-135 were considerably cropped, and I edited them outside Lightroom. With Noise Ninja and some Shadow / Highlights, I came to a reasonable result. The 747 was large enough so I did not have to crop that much. These ones were not Ninja-ed

Hope this helps !
