Luxair also goes for largest variant of Boeing 737 Max

Post by YS11 »

Luxair has placed an order for the Boeing 737 MAX 10, the longest variant of the MAX series. The Luxembourg-based airline is purchasing two copies, plus two options. Last year, Luxair already signed for ten MAX 7s and MAX 8s, which means that the fleet will soon include three of the four subtypes from that aircraft family.

Today's and last year's orders are not only intended to replace the older generation of 737s, but also to expand. In that context, four E195-E2s were also ordered from Embraer last year.

The Boeing 737 MAX 10, with the 30 inches of legroom promised by Luxair, can carry up to 213 passengers. That's significantly more than the 186 in the current 737-800, which is currently the largest aircraft in the Luxair fleet.

Luxair will start flying to the Netherlands from the end of October, by starting a scheduled service between Luxembourg and Rotterdam. A Dash 8 turboprop will be used on that route.
