The Russian Air Force is set to phase out the iconic An-22 heavy turboprop transport aircraft by 2024.
This decision marks the end of an era for these robust planes.

Lieutenant General Vladimir Benediktov, commander of the Russian military transport aviation,
shared this update in a report by the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.

Currently, the An-22s are exclusively operated
by the 12th Military Transport Aviation Mginskaya Red Banner Division at Migalovo Airport in Tver.

This division will continue to include four An-22s until their decommissioning in 2024.
