Union Fortress events are an initiative by the UAE Armed Forces to demonstrate and highlight the role of their armed forces in safeguarding and securing the UAE its people. This is the 6th edition of Union Fortress event and will billed as the biggest-ever public demonstration of the UAE Armed Forces.

This joint-military exercise is designed to showcase the expertise and readiness of the armed forces in a number of different live-action battle scenarios including air-borne hostage rescue. An important aspect of this exercise is to portray the coordination and collaboration that the armed forces employ while dealing with security threats.

Union Fortress 6 was held in my home town of Al Hamra, Ras al Khaimah and I was privileged to have a front row seat during the demonstration. The following flying elements took part;

073/074/077 AH-64’s (Based at Al Jezzera flying club, Al Hamra During the month of October)
741 + 1 Mirage 2000-9
1054/1055 Hawk 102’s
2279 DHC-6
2379 Thrush Commander
2504/2517 CH-47F's (Based at Al Jezzera flying club, Al Hamra During the month of October)
2612/2632/2640 UH-60L’s (Based at Al Jezzera flying club, Al Hamra During the month of October)
2871/2875/2898 Bell 407GX’s (Based at Al Jezzera flying club, Al Hamra During the month of October)
3027/3077 F-16E’s

All the above are UAE AF except 2279 which is operated by the Joint Services Command.

Kind Regards
