Blackbull11-formation

Post by ebauer »

13/9

Blackbull11-formation (USAF C130 58-1402 & Polish AF C295M 014). Both aircraft were performing a VFR low level flight -as a twoship- out of Eindhoven, to the 'Market Garden' droppingzone at the Ginkelse Heide and further on via the IJsselmeer to Den Helder and via the coastline southbound back to Eindhoven again. Communications were with either Dutch Mil info 132.350 MHz and Amsterdam info on 124.300 MHz;

"The callsign, Sir, is BLACKBULL one one. BLACKBULL one one set. The lead aircraft is a Charlie one fourty and the number two aircraft is a Charlie two ninety vife" 8)

Blackbull12 = US C30J / 14-5802 / AE595F

Thanks!
Where the callsign comes from? Does it have any historical reference to the real Market Garden 1944?

Thanks!
BTW. Is there any mention in historical literature concerning Market Garden to radio communication on those days of September 1944? Looks like a very interesting subject!...

Thank you very much, Joost!
A bit surprised to learn they used A/A within civil airband range...
Understand both GAF a/c (listed by me) were C-160s (the ones using <142.850>). Thanks!
Anyone for their tails?

Today (16-SEP-2017, 0805Z) on Adsbexch.:

Code: Select all

BULL01	2100	3601	C30J	14-5802	AE595F		United States
BULL02	2325	3601	C295	024	48D853	PLF	Poland
BULL04	2000	3601			3E8B6F		Germany
BULL03	2075	3601			3E8C0A		Germany
Did they shortened their callsign to "Bull" indeed?
