Re: Port visits Lisbon (Portugal)
The next very nice one is on its way: BNS Independência, Brazilian Navy frigate able to carry a Lynx will be in port 26th until 30th of September.

It wasn't a Lynx.... but the Brazilian does have a chopper on board. Seen today:

The Brazilian is still here until tomorrow, but the next is already on its way. This time a French ship, the FNS Tonnerre will be in port from the 1st until the 3rd of October. This is an amphibious assault ship with a flat helo deck and large hangar. Capable of carrying up to 30 or so helicopters, though generally it carries far less. Also, generally, helicopters seem to be kept below deck during port visits...

BNS Godetia will be visiting from the 14th until the 17th. The ship is able to carry an Alouette (but not an NH.90), although I believe it doesn't have one on board very often.

No Russians (in Spain or here), but the US Navy will pay a visit. USS Stout, a guided missile destroyer, will be in port from the 29th of October until the 2nd of November. This ship usually brings a Sea Hawk (or two).

Re: Port visits Lisbon (Portugal)
Checked out the Stout today, but no helo on board. And only after I returned I noticed the small text... The Stout is an early Arleigh Burke-class ship, which means it doesn't have a helicopter hangar...
Anyway, also the French Tonnerre was in port (again), but didn't have anything on deck (again).
Freaking nice weather though with temperatures reaching 30C , so not bad for a long walk to the docks.

Currently in port:
USS Whidbey Island (no helo on board)
SPS Almirante Juan de Borbón (SH-60 HS.23-12 on board, not visible this morning)
HMS Duncan (Wildcat on board, not visible this morning)
The Spanish and British are part of SNMG1 and will leave on the 12th. Often during port visits these ships are open. I have not been able to find any info about any such option during this visit yet...

HS.23-12/01-1012 aboard the Spanish confirmed. Yesterday the ships were open to the public and the Seahawk was inside the hangar. A look through the cockpit window was no problem... but it was too dark to read the c/n unfortunately
The Duncan had no helicopter. Apparantly it was flown back to base before they started the trip down south...

And to close the year.... we have yet another Canadian. Today the HMCS Charlottetown arrived with on board CH-124A 12404. This afternoon the hangar was open and the helicopter was visible. Ship will leave again just after new year.

This time the HMCS St John's arrived on her way from Halifax to the Med. Aboard is CH-124A 12429 which was outside this morning for some much needed vitamin D.

Re: Port visits Lisbon (Portugal)
A very short 'splash and dash' today by the HMS Portland. Scheduled arrival at 16.00 (though I think she came in even later) and should leave again this evening. Unfortunately the hangar was closed and she is also berthed at a difficult spot. Behind the new cruise terminal that is being built, which means very little options to see anything. No chopper seen therefore...

Port visit of the year I would think.... INS Tarkash will be in port from 14th until the 17th of May. This is an Indian Navy frigate capable of carrying up to two helicopters. Last week it was in London, though I have seen no reports of any helicopters on board. A picture taken in Gibraltar in April does show one on deck, though difficult to see what type.

Most probably a Chetak (Alouette 3).
Looking forward to details when the ship is in Lisbon.
