Re: A tribute to Spangdahlem Air Base
Dear all,
Thanks a lot for all those great photos covering very interesting periods of this great air base!!
Having been a very keen "Spang-traveller" I personally miss a very important period, if any of You ccan help!!
Does any of You have F-16 photos from 1991, 1992 and or 1993 - I am especially very interested in the Vipers coming from Torrejon AB, Spain and those few extras from MacDill AFB, FL!!
i only managed to visit Spang once when both the F-4s and Block-30 F-16s were there (summer of 1991) - all my other visits were made after the F-4s left and the Block-50 F-16s took over
Many thanks in advance for helping me out in this very special aviation period - those days made the cornerstone of my current F-16 interest.
MAny greetings,
Henrik from Denmark.

Hi Henrik,
I will give a try, hope you like it.
This F-16C 86-0259/SP from 23rdFS was seen on the static at Kleine Brogel Open Deur, Sept.1991.
These two ''Hunter killers'' , F-4G 69-0263/SP and F-16C 87-0233/SP were on the static at the Bitburg open day, May 1993.
Shortly after this, 81st FS lost it's F-4Gs and F-16s and switched to the A-10s.
Regards,
Maurits

Hi Maurits,
I LOVE them ,-)) thanks a lot.
Actually 86-0259 is quite interesting as she just under a month later - Oct. 1991 - was transferred to the VA ANG in Richmond.
She is now one of a few "Small Inlet" Block-30s still flying in the NJ ANG in Atlantic City.
Cheers,
Henrik.
