There is also a spring Flag exercise in Italy around the same period as well.
That could only be the reason for the Spanish for not coming. They are participating at Spring Flag and were on the early list of participants. That's no excuse for the Finnish contingent.
Assume makes an ASS of U and ME.

There is a Link-16 ground unit participating as far as I know. That explains the Learjets btw.

The Finnish AF is going to play with Link-16. :cry:
Cause there ar not many players, they simulate players via Link-16, so expect a large bomber or red air package [which are not there] for the scanner listeners.
Does'nt get any better those days.

Well, at least there are Phantoms! In a few years this species will be extinct (at least close to home). So enjoy it while we still can..

The french Rafales exercising at Leeuwarden, is the reason that there are no french a/c participating at Spring Flag.
Perhaps some exercise coordination would be helpfull for the planners :?:

hello phellow aircraftenthousiasts. Just received an official pressrelease concerning Frisian Flag 2008:
Period: 31-03 until 11-04. Two missions each day between 09.00-1600 lt. No flying activities in the weekend.
Participating a/c: RNethAF 12 F-16's, 1 x C-130 operating from Leeuwarden AB 07-04 until 09-04; 1 KDC-10 operating from Eindhoven AB; BAF 8 F-16's; GAF 6 F-4F's; FAF 5 Rafales; RNoAF 1 Falcon Da-20.
Operating areas are northern Tra's; Vliehors range; Marnewaard and area west of the coast village Zurich, south of Harlingen. Within a range of 20 Km around Zurich an altitude is used of 1200 feet, except the Waddenzee; marnewaard also 1200 feet is allowed, without the Waddenzee and the Waddenzee a minimum altitude of 1500 feet.

INTERNATIONALE OEFENING OP VLIEGBASIS LEEUWARDEN

Op de Vliegbasis Leeuwarden wordt van maandag 31 maart tot en met vrijdag 11 april de internationale oefening Frisian Flag 2008 gehouden. Er wordt van 09.00 tot 16.00 gevlogen, uitgezonderd het weekend. De deelnemende vliegers trainen het uitvoeren van complexe missies in internationaal verband. Mogelijke toekomstige NRF-inzet (NATO Response Force) en de huidige inzet zoals in Afghanistan staan centraal in de oefenscenario´s.

Naast de Nederlandse inbreng van twaalf F-16´s nemen zes Duitse F-4´s, acht Belgische F-16´s en vijf Franse Rafales deel aan de oefening. De Noorse Luchtmacht levert een Falcon DA-20 die, als onderdeel van de oefening, radar- en communicatiesystemen kan verstoren. Een KDC-10 tankvliegtuig en een C-130 transportvliegtuig nemen ook deel aan de oefening.

De vliegers van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht en de internationale partners oefenen tijdens Frisian Flag 2008 onder andere ook luchtsteun aan de grondtroepen en de marine. Tijdens de oefening wordt daarom samengewerkt met Forward Air Controllers van de Koninklijke Landmacht en schepen van de Koninklijke Marine. Zij geven per radio aanwijzingen aan de vliegers over de precieze locatie van de aan te vallen doelen.

Het grootste deel van de vluchten worden in de oefengebieden boven de Noordzee uitgevoerd. Ook wordt er gebruik gemaakt van de Vliehors Schietrange, het militair oefengebied De Marnewaard en een gebied boven West-Friesland. Weersomstandigheden en veiligheidsaspecten kunnen van invloed zijn op de uitvoering van de vluchten. Het is daarom mogelijk dat tijden zonder voorafgaande waarschuwing wijzigen. Omwonenden van genoemde gebieden kunnen mogelijk geluidshinder ondervinden van de vliegactiviteiten
