Not that colourful, Tom, but hopefully of interest all the same. This time a few shots taken during the Deelen airshow on June 30th, 1973.

I live at a stone's throw from Deelen....I should have lived here 37 years ago! (Although, I would have been 2yrs old back then...).

Very nice B&W shots, Peter. Although the A-7 was designed to be AIM-9 capable, few are the photos showing a photo a Sidewinder on the rails of the Corsair II. This seems to be true with either operator, USN or USAF. I suspect in Vietnam it was common, but afterward pretty unusual.


I'm not sure of the s/n on this C-130B of the 337 TAS/439 TAW AFRES at Westover ARB, 30 November 1974. Photographed during jeep extraction over the "Bean Bag" drop zone.

Here are two photographs of the Miles M100 Student G-APLK. This all-metal lightweight trainer was privately developed and it was offered to the RAF as a possible trainer, but the RAF preferred the Jet Provost instead.
Only one example was built, its construction number being 1008. Its initial registration was G-35-4 before it became G-APLK. It was allocated serial XS941 as it was developed into a mark 2 version for a new role in the RAF. However it didn't reach the production stages.
It was severly damaged during a crash on August 24th, 1989. The remains were re-registered as G-MIOO and the aircraft is under restoration at the Museum of Berkshire Aviation.
I got permission to enter the Loganair hangar at Glasgow airport on August 3rd, 1976 and was able to take these photographs. I hope you find this information of interest.

Very interesting aircraft, Peter. The main landing gear look really rugged, like it could operate from carriers. The M100 I assume, flew in the 1950s? Twin vertical stabilizers remind me of the Fairchild T-46, a replacement for the T-37 Tweet that flew in the 1980s, and spent decades afterward at the boneyard. But that's OK, we now have an "off the shelf" turboprop tandem trainer that took a decade for a US firm to make ready for service. But heck, who needs jets today?

Yes, development started in 1953, but due to financial difficulties, its first flight took place on May 14, 1957. By that time, its competitor the Jet Provost was already in production for the RAF.
