Two more Dutch 1981 scenes.
Nine Alouettes were practising formations, probably for the pending airshow. The Diamond 9 is hard to recognise from this angle but there were rotors everywhere (30jul81).

A four-ship NF-5s of 313sq visited on 23sep81.

Then, in nov81, shortly after the Volkel Spottersday I switched to slide film. Slides have remained my main medium up till now!

Winter scramble returning to base, 09dec81.

The Alconbury Agressors were frequently hired to make life hard on the Eagle Drivers (20jan82).
But on 12jan82, I couldn't believe my luck. After silently backing out of a school ice skating-outing (though I liked to skate) and hopping on the bicycle to Soesterberg I found there to be three Buccaneers and they were preparing departure!

Buccs leaving in style.

To make the party complete, the chaps decided that a little Bakermat-Buzzing would be appropriate.

Flying Banana at its best, low on the deck.

Climb to 20ft, we're leaving a dust trail
It is, I have seen it in it's hangar once. At that time (I guess 22 Years ago) it was joined by two F15's. I remember one F15 dual was in there for maintenance due to a birdstrike. It's canopy was sitting on the ground with a huge and deep scratch on it. The F105 had some holes in it's canopy "plugged" with what appeared to be rubber disks with a bolt through it. When I asked the maintenance guy if this would not obscure the pilots vision too much he replied "in real combat this works better than replacing the canopy, the pilots need to be more focussed due to the partially impaired vision..." fascinating I thought.

I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.
