Looks very good indeed.

I haven't been there for 4 years, and with the weather forecast for the next week in mind I can't wait to go.
Next saturday, May 10 will be my chance. :D
Anyone around here with similar plans?

Frankfurt (FRA)

Post by Grass »

Hi All,

I am due to spend this weekend (21/22 June) at Frankfurt Airport. As it is quite a while since I visited, most aircraft will be of interest. However I am wondering whether anyone knew if there is anything unusual/non-scheduled, due to visit over the weekend?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Niall

Afternoon,

I assume the terrace on T2 is still open. Could anyone tell me if it will be worth a visit when purpose of the trip is writing down numbers only?

Thanks,
Patrick

Of course you can read numbers of arriving/departing aircraft on runways 25L/R. But for that I would rather stay at the McDonalds window which is right behind the platform. Note that liquids are not allowed on the terrace.

Presently parked on the former Rhein-Main Air Base are:

98-0049 C-17A 62AW (Spirit of Rhein-Main)
90-0300 C-20H nn

if I saw it correctly, in between work, there is also a (dark grey, most likely USAF) C-130 parked over there.

All are present for the "Berlin Airlift 60 Years Celebrations".

Gerard

Is this the C-17 which we can expect at Wiesbaden upcoming Sunday, or will this be the Spirit of Berlin?

I chatted with the crew here in Frankfurt. That is what I thought and asked as well.
They did not know, they would just fly the plane south, to an undisclosed destination (which turned out to be Aviano). The aircraft would continue from there with another crew.
