work brought my near Manchester, so I added some extra time to do some spotting. My last visit to Manchester was back in 2011, so it was a good time to catch up with English airlines like Thomas Cook and Jet2. Also, if you like the B757, then Manchester is still a place to be.
I stayed in the Airport Inn on the South side of the airport, which was near the first two spots I visited. They were on the 23s, meaning take-offs would be on the runway in front of you, which gives some very nice angles. The weather also started out very nice, so I had a very enjoyable few hours.
1. Pretty B757-200 G-OOBN of TUI is lined up on runway 23L and ready for take-off:

2. If airplanes do not use the full length of the runway and turn onto it from the second taxiway, you can have these nice close-ups when they line-up Here's Jet2 B737-800 G-JZBP in the Jet2 Holiday livery turning onto the runway:

3. Boeing 787-8 G-TUIA lining-up:

4. A boring NetJets Falcon 2000 CS-DLF is looking a lot more interesting from this angle:

5. Scored two new A350-900s from Qatar this day, this one is A7-ALM:

6. Gorgeous B757-200 G-LSAD of Jet2:

7. Jet2 is quite a dominant airline at Manchester:

8. I really like those big engines on the A320neo. Here's my very first one of BA, which is G-TTNE:

9. B757-200 G-LSAG of Jet2 is flying in the regular livery, which looks even nicer:

10. The livery of Loganair as shown here on ERJ135 G-SAJT remembers me of the British Airways world tails from the 90s:

11. This Alba Star B737-800 EC-NAB is currently based at Manchester and flies for TUI to cover for their grounded B737MAX8s:

12. Do328-300 OY-NCU of BA/Sun Air lining up. Funny little jet!

13. Aurigny also flies to Manchester, here's ATR72 G-COBO:

14. Manchester is also a good place to catch some ATR72s from Aer Lingus Regional:

15. Thomas Cook's A321 G-TCVC is still flying in this hybrid Monarch-livery:

16. Jet2 is also flying with two A330-200, which are leased from AirTanker. This is G-VYGL:

17. Thumbs-up from the first officer of this DHC-8-400Q G-PRPA of Flybe:

19. Virgin is flying with the A330 and B747-400 from Manchester. This is G-VAST:

20. My first A321neo of TAP is this CS-TJI:

21. Thomas Cook is also using widebodies from Manchester like this A330-200 G-OMYT:

22. Quite new A330-300 B-303Z from Hainan Airlines rolling down runway 23L:

23. Wamos Air A330-200 EC-LNH was flying for Thomas Cook:

24. Saudia is flying to Manchester with the B787-9. This is HZ-ARD:

25. Thomas Cook A321 G-TCDV is wearing the I love Cook's Club-livery:

26. Nice to catch the Austrian retro A320 OE-LBO:

As the sun was getting around, I decided to move to the Runway Viewing Park. Currently there are construction works there for a new VIP-terminal. As a result the mounts are not there anymore and the fence also got higher. This means photos of planes on the runway are still quite okay, but closeby on the taxiway means the fence is in your pictures... Not the best place anymore...
27. From the RVP I could take this Global N989SF of Crystal Luxury Air by standing on one of the picnic tables to photograph over the fence...

Then the rain started and I ended the day on the Multi-level parking garage of Terminal 3:
28. Very white Olympus Air A321 SX-ABQ about to land on runway 23R:

29. And I end this set with this great Oman Air B787-8 A4O-SA:

I hope you liked my selection. I still have the next day to edit, so some more pics will follow in the next few days.
