There were two groups, the first group flew straight from Duxford to Caen, the second flew the parachutist which were first dropped before landing in Caen.

Daks over Normandy Caen arrivals
The dakota's made the flight from the UK to Caen in the early evening of June 5th.
There were two groups, the first group flew straight from Duxford to Caen, the second flew the parachutist which were first dropped before landing in Caen.

Good to see That's All Brother airborne ; there was a television series of this warbird ; the restoration of her at i believe it was National Geographic Channel...…….
Nice series of images btw.
That's All Brother was the first plane to take off to Normandy ; it was the leading plane for all the invasion aircraft.

Nice pics EC it was a nice day over there..
Regarding the comments that Thats all brother was the first aircraft to lead the invasion force is not entirely correct!
That is a matter of perspective as the plane itself led the regular invasion as number one and also had chalk one on the aircraft of that fleet.
This was preceded by the Pathfinder aircraft wich paved the way by dropping Pathfinders who needed to set up the beacons on which Thats all brother could home in too..

Serials 1 till 3 and 6a where pathfinders whereas the serial 7 and following where regular forces which was led by Thats all brother...
Still nevertheless a important surviving aircraft but not the first to arrive in Normandy that night as the pathfinders where there 28 minutes earlyer..
