No probs with security? We did, the day after you left but got some decent shots anyway. What about Shaw? Gr. Rob

We had no problems with security, stayed away from the fence when there was nothing to "shoot".
Shaw wasn't what we had expected! We had a really good spot north of the base on finals. Only the demo did fly that day. Today we were at Beaufort and found a decent spot to take pics for final rwy 23.

Hi Rogier, was wondering where you found that Rwy 23 approach spot, how to get there. I plan to be there for the airshow arrivals this spring..
If anyone else has more recent experiences here, please let me know as well (by PM is also OK)!
Many thanks, best regards,
Bart

Hi Bart,
I visited Seymour Johnson shortly in 2016 (https://final-approach.jouwweb.nl/2016/seymour-jonhnson). I positioned myself on the Lewis Dairy road halfway the runway for take off shots (https://www.scramble.nl/airfield-guide/ ... ohnson-afb, position nbr 4.) Unfortunately after a short period I was checked by the Police who let me stay, but said photography was not allowed. (I know in the past this was no problem, but recent years they check more frequently). Hopefully for you they will let you stay prior to the airshow and allow you to photograph, but just to let you know.
Regards, Edwin

Re: Seymour Johnson AFB 26-09-2011
Thanks Edwin! Nice SJ shots! Although my question was about MCAS Beaufort (apologies for not mentioning that!), that's really good to know. Was planning to "do" SJ outside the base the Monday after the show, but I will tread with extra caution now. Any other information you can share is most welcome by the way, on anything roughly between NY and Beaufort, I won't go any further south than that. The Newport News/Virginia Beach/Norfolk area of course being a main goal. Still hoping to find a hotel/motel with a 'view' there too.
Cheers, Bart
