Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Phoenix AZ, Deerfield, Scottsdale, Falcon field

Post by EC »

In November 2017 Messrs de Wit and I did a tour of Airports in Phoenix and Tucson. As you will know both cities are in Arizona.
This state is known for is blue skies and dry climate. Ideal conditions for flying the year round.
For this reason Arizona is very popular with flying schools. The city of Phoenix was already the preffered location for pilot training
in WW2, with US, Russian, British and Chinese pilots all being thaught to fly on various fields around the city.

A number of these fields are still in operation, for the entusiast they have a nice mix of old and new planes of all kinds.

Doing a clockwise tour, the most northerly field is Deervalley. This field claims to be the General aviation field with
the most movements in th US. This is certainly helped by the presence of all the flying academies in the area, with many training
aircraft doing approaches and touch and go's

To the south of Deervalley, but still in the northern part of Phoenix is Scottsdale. The part of the city is home to many a "well to be" citizens.
As a result you'll find most bizz jets at this airport but there is much more to be seen.

A bit to the east is Falcon Field, this field has a lot of General aviation but is also home to a museum of the commemorative airforce,
We were kindly driven around the airport by the PR representative of the airport.

There are 7 more airfields around the (direct) city, Mesa gateway, Chandler regional, Gila river (former Chandler Memorial), Goodyear, Glenndale, Luke AFB and Buckeye.

Please let me know if you are interested to see pictures from these airports/fields.

Kind regards

Of course! I don't normally log in when I go through the forum, so I don't typically reply, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate good photos!
