Everybody knows that Airberlin is falling appart. And they will stop their flying operations soon.
I was lucky to book a plane ticket Dusseldorf to LA and the flight got cancelled. I know there is almost nil chance to get back any money. But has somebody maybe an experience or option ( one i dont know) Hope somebody can help.
I tried:
Creditcard
Travel insurance
Booking company

Re: Airberlin bankrupt
That’s prettig bad luck mate.
Well it’s always a grey area in this case. It’s within your rights to get your money back. However it will be a long proces untill you get your actual money back. IF this is even happening.
I think it’s smart not to book any flights with AirBerlin.

If you’ve booked your flight before August 15, it’s unlikely to get your money back.

Is your booking company a member of SGR? (I don't know, but I doubt Air Berlin is, maybe there is a comparable thing in Germany? Maybe ask that to their embassy)

Re: Airberlin bankrupt
Yesterday the German government (Minister of Justice) stated that, as a matter of reasonability/courtesy, Lufthansa, who is the new owner of 81% of AB, should accept AB tickets.
Let's wait and see, because there is no legal obligation for LH to do so.

Hi,
Does any one know what will happens to Belair Switzerland and Nikki as they are sister companies of Air Berlin.
And what will happens with the DHC-8's of LGW?
Grtz,
Miguel

I think I read somewhere that Niki and LGW were part of the 81% that go to LH.
Don't know about the other.

Just read on the RTL-Z website that EasyJet bought 25 A320s and the BER-slots for Berlin-Tegel just before the official shut-down of the airline.
Niki and LGW are going to sport the Eurowings colours.
