It is a 3 hour drive from Hualien to our hotel in Taipei and around 20.00 we are drinking beers and eating sate in town. Just before it gets out of hand I manage to escape the bar. I have to get up at 5.....
. Piet has a flight to catch to Manilla, I will be on my own today.
The next morning I drive south with a bag full of 7/11 food and a hot coffee. It is a 3 hour drive to Geuiren, the Southern Army Helicopter base. When I arrive there is not too much going on, the small eastern runway is under construction

I Quickly leave for Tainan but at my fuel stop I notice that my tire is flat. The very friendly locals make sure my tire gets some wind again that lasts a day
. On my way to the Southern landing I see a Hercules land from the north. I do not know that approach but 10 minutes later I am photographing FC-K-1's landing in a nice background.

Ten Aircraft arrive in 20 minutes. After this wave I quickly drive to Gangshan, I still need T-34's and AT-3's. When I arrive 16 T-34's land of which 12 are new
. When the last Mentor lands the AT-3's immediately take off, 8 in total. Their navigation sorty lasts 1 hour and they come straight in. After this many Mentors are ready for take off again.... Time to go and see if I can catch some F-16's in Chiayi.

I am Lucky in Chiayi. The locals fly (downwind). Around 16.00 I am done. Very satisfied I return back to the hotel 2,5 hours north.
