Re: EHTX Alouette III
Nice to see this Alouette is back to life... below you find the original H-08 at the KNVVL-Airshow at Terlet sept 9th 1967. Too bad it crashed near Zutphen on 8-10-1971...

And of course some historical shots of the A-366 which became the H-08 now displayed at EHTX

Re: EHTX Alouette III
There could be many reasons. Most likely the original transparancies are painted over with aluminium paint which reflects heat, but even as important covers may cracks which may develop over time in the transparant plastic.aviodromefriend wrote:Thought it had something to do with keeping the temperature inside within reasonable limits.phkza wrote:Even off-topic, maar weet iemand waarom bij deze (en vele andere) kist de ramen zijn vervangen door een soort ondoorzichtig materiaal? An other benefit is that the inside is no longer visible. All interior parts may be gone (sold off) while it does not show on the outside and the airframe remains attractive like operational.
Having said that: I'm not on the conservation team so this remains speculation...

Re: EHTX Alouette III
Some parts are missing to represent a SAR Alouette III. I still hate it when they try to falsify history.
I'd much rather have 'm show A-366 just as it was. If they wanted to show a SAR version as it operated from the island, then create the serial the way it was done, so that this would have become H-66. Pretending it is H-08 while it isn't isn't right IMHO. And anticipating on those that will say that this isn't done for aircraft spotters, but for the general public: The general public wouldn't have minded seeing A-366 or H-66 instead of H-08, so that's a BS reason.
BUT: still pleased that another Alouette is preserved, still better than nothing. And the paintjob looks great too!
Correction: I now see that H-08 did operate without the floats, at least in the beginning. So skip the remark about missing parts, the rest still stands.

Re: EHTX Alouette III
Can't agree with that. H-66 would be far worse than H-08. H-66 never did exist so that would trully be to falsify history. At least H-08 had a history at Texel and this way it pays tribute to the one that was lost many years ago. A very common thing to do when preserving aircraft, as the original crashed one is usually no longer available.marcel32us wrote:so that this would have become H-66. I do agree with preferring a real A-366 over a fake H-08. But if fake numbers are applied, then at least a fake number that pays tribute and therefore has a reason to be applied.
