USA Trip Part 3: Tennessee [CIV/MIL]+Req.

Post by PH-BRAD »

Hi y'all,

After part 1 (http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=117618) and part 2 (http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=117643). We left Roanoke for Knoxville, Music City and Memphis. In the meantime I came across the following aircraft:

Mountain Empire Airport - 2nd of August
N738AX	Cessna 182	Private
1. Nice Cessna 182 with a nice backdrop, unfortunately I couldn't identify the plane in the back.
Image

Elizabethon - 2nd of August
N2206A	Piper PA-28 Cherokee 181 Archer II	Private
N2662F	Cessna 182	Private
N4117T	Cessna 320	Private
N4205F	Cessna 172	Private
N577DW	Hughes 369HS	Private
N6054T	Cessna 150	Private
N6344E	Cessna 172	Private
N734EQ	Cessna 172	Private
N849Q	Beech Queen Air	Private
N9779V	Cessna 172	Private
N335MA	SOCATA TBM Aircraft LLC
2. I still don't get it, it's a Hughes 369 but Hughes 500 is written on it.
Image

3. The biggest plane at Elizabethon
Image

4. My first Queen Air, quite happy with this one.
Image

Johnson City Hospital - 2nd of Augus
N408UT	Bell 407	Private
5. Next airport was Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge airport:
Image
which isn't in Gatlinburg nor Pigeon Forge but in Sevierville. I didn't visit the museum but I heard they have some nice aircraft.

Since this airport lays on a Hill it's quite hard to take decent pictures at the FBO from outside the fences. So I walked in and asked if I could take some pictures airside. It was fine on the condition that I blurred out the registrations. So this log is incomplete.

Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge - 4rd of August
N150DK	Cessna 150 Private
N1992D	Cessna 182 Private
N2302A	Robinson R22 Beta	Private
N312DC	Waco GXE Private
N5997W	Piper PA-28-140 CherokeePrivate
N6792E	Cessna 175 Private
N7143Y	Robinson R22 Beta II	Private
N8364Z	Robinson R44 Raven	Private
N16760	Bell 206L Private
N408UT	Bell 407 Private
6. Nice FBO-terminal for a small airfield.
Image

7. Seen from the FBO but landside
Image

8. Nice King Air at the FBO
Image

9. Seen at the other side of the airport, a nice Robinson R44
Image

10. Well, I saw it at Johnson City's Hospital but it wasn't possible to take a proper picture, I was sort of glad to see it here again.
Image

Moving on to the bigger cities now. Nashville, aka Music City was next. We visited BNA's FBO's. First thing I saw was a F-15. Can't imagine to see a RNLAF at the Rotterdam JetCenter. I also saw many of the Tennessee ANG's Blackhawks, I still have some doubts about a few serials so if anyone could help me with filling out the blanks, I'd highly appriciate it.

11. It started off very well at BNA

12. One of the many small airplanes around at Nashville.

13. Nice Phenom of Averitt Air Inc.
Image

14. Not that often seen at Dutch airfields, well except of UR-SBS.
Image

15. The Tennessee ANG!
Image

16. A crappy shot of a Blackhawk at the Tennessee ANG
Image

17. Close to the ANG at the other side of the airport there's an area of stored E145's
Image

18. Nashville is famous of its music and therefore nicknamed Music City. One of the museums over there is Johnny Cash's. He served the USAF from 1950-1954 as a Staff Sergeant of the 12th Radio Squadron Mobile. He was the first radio operator to pick up the news of the death of Joseph Stalin.
Image

After a visited to one of the most famous country music stars we went to the King of Rock 'n' Roll. But in the meantime we stopped at Lebanon, TN and Jackson, TN.

19. An unkown Kiowa or something like that, anyone's got more details? Its N-number ends with TE I think. Its ex-US Army serial is something like 0-213*2 or 0-23*2
Image

20. Both of MASCO's Phenoms were present.
Image

21.
Image

22. Nice helo of the local PD
Image

We arrived at Memphis. I didn't visit FedEx-Field, or Memphis Intl. These two planes were Elvis Presley's planes. And yes, they are still there! :D

23. Lisa Marie is Elvis' daugther's name
Image

24. Gotta love those engines.
Image

25. Fuel truck I suppose
Image

26. My most favorite private jet, the Lockheed JetStar

Hope you like this part. Any suggestions, comments or missing serial are highly appriciated.

With regards to this Kiowa, I'd say this would be a pretty good bet:
http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry ... rtxt=911TF

Mind you, it's based on being an H-58 from Tennessee (turned out to be Jackson, TN). However, its base and the fact that its former serial is 72-21302 are 'nice coincidalities'...

Hi Brad per Blackhawks at Nashville:

890 is 83-23890 UH-60A which is 1-230Th CAV TR D TN ARNG at Smyrna, but they frequent Nashville regularly.

Just for your notes and anybody else that may not be familar, there are always lots of ERJ,there is an EMBRAER Maintanence facilty at Nashville. From time to time catch some of the Military conversion ERJ there.

Also as of MAY 2015 the 1-230Th CAV moved from Smyrna to Nashville, since Nashville lost their C-130S,and practically new hangar, they decided instead of renovating the old buildings at Smyrna, they moved the TN ARNG UH-60s to Nashville, their should also be some UH-72A around there as well.

Didn't notice your log earlier (why in the Tattle Lounge section?) but the UH-60 in your picture is an ex USAR Europe 12 CAB UH-60L (note the 12 CAB Griffins badge). According a press release, more ex-12 CAB UH-60Ls ended up with the TN ANG last summer. Likely the following UH-60s are also ex 12 CAB machines:

**-**649 UH-60 Blackhawk Likely 95-26649 (= ex 12 CAB)
**-**685 UH-60 Blackhawk Likely 96-26685 (= ex 12 CAB)
**-**687 UH-60 Blackhawk Likely 96-26687 (= ex 12 CAB)
