Southern Arava residents (some sheep and a flock of Bedouin) can expect increased jet aircraft noise during the 2nd half of October as the second Multi-national Blue Flag combat training exercise gets under way. Expected participants would be some six local squadrons of F-15 Baz, F-16C/D Barak, F-16I Sufa and in the aggressor role, a few F-16A Netz making probably their final appearance before retirement. Joining in will be six F-15s (LNs?) from the US, 6 F-16s from Poland and five more from Greece.
The Israel Air Force commander has stated that there will be no media day this time, but anyone planning to visit could always contact the IDF Spokesperson, try twitter, facebook or Google for contact info. The base will open for transport and support flights on October 14th, with familiarization flights starting on Sunday 18th. The exercise proper is will probably begin on 25th Oct.
