Amiens has a 1230m and 25m wide runway.
If a KC-135 wants to get airborne in Amiens, it must be with minimum fuel only. Understandably that would not be sufficient to make it over the channel

This is an often made mistake, it 1st shows at FR24 or Planefinder over Amiens, so some people think it departed Amiens.
As you can see it was overhead Amiens at Fl270, so no this did not depart Amiens.. Rather sad to see how the Daily makes a mistake like this.

Weird, works for me. But if you go to http://www.mildenhall.af.mil/ and then click on the link under "RAF Mildenhall Latest News" the newsitem should show up.

Not only the Daily Hiel, (read you history) but the Daily Express were running this one with a picture of a KC-10A on their website.

For those not familiar with British tabloids, disregard anything they publish in the first 31 days of any month. After that, anything they publish may just have some relationship with the truth.
Drink treble

Act single

Maybe an idea to change the topic title? In "False Alarm" maybe?

As we say in Holland "een hoog Telegraaf gehalte". When does the press start checking their facts first?
