C/D'tjes worden sowieso met uitsterven bedreigd....maar een half jaar deployment wordt tegenwoordig misschien wel wat lastig voor één ANG unit? Daarnaast natuurlijk een goede oefening voor beide....misschien duiken er morgen nog wel andere units op

Sorry for all the mixed up news today, but that was on at that moment... i also realize that people went home based on the messages here.... But up to the last moment when the eagles themselves wanted to land period, it was unclear. As every atc, LWD and Lakenheath were advising them winds were out of limits.......

I suggest the 3 OR Eagles are temporarily on loan ( or recent new arrivals) and still flown by FL ANG crews?? This happens all the time in CONUS

Actually this is not strange at all. It is common practice with long ANG deployments that a deployed unit is composed of 3-4 units. An ANG unit consists of reserve and active-duty personnel. Reserve personnel only serve during their monthly drill weekends and yearly for a 2 week training deployment or exercise. For longer deployments such as Operation Deliberate Force, Allied Force and the Southern and Northern Watch deployments it was common practice to see 3-4 units deploying for several months. It is most likely that those expeditionary units are made up of active duty components of various ANG units flying the same type (with possible 2-week rotations of reservists). The alternative is that the reservist component of an ANG unit is called to active duty status but this rarely occurs and only happens in crisis situations.

In this particular case the Florida ANG is probably the lead unit responsible for the logistic operation. Therefore it is unlikely that the participation of the Oregon Eagles has anything to do with the lack of Eagles with the 159th FS. I wouldn't be surprised if the second group will be made up of one or two other units than those that arrived today.

Het klinkt allemaal plausibel....we zullen het antwoord wel in de komende 4 weken krijgen....en er zal toch ook wel een 'journalist' zijn die hierover een mooi artikeltje voor de AFM/AIM/Scramble etc etc gaat maken!

Just recived the following answer on my question if it is a combined 142ndFW/125th FW deployment or borrowed aircraft:
Answer USAFE and Africa Command: It is a combined deployment, Each FW will provide forces to fulfill the whole tasking.

A reliable US-based source (outside the USAF) informed me that...
"The 159th FS borrowed several jets from the 123rd FS when the deployed to Hawaii last month, and I'm told that haven't yet been returned."

I believe this is wrong as they deployed together to Sentry Aloha, returning early March 2015
