Re: Netherlands-led NATO future tanker-buy plan agreement
i dont think Melsbroek AB is suitable to station the A330 tankers; IIRC, when Belgium operated a leased A330 theyre facilities were not able to house such a large aircraft.
there are plans to build new hangars and infrastructure to accomodate the new Airbus A400M, but i dont know if those wil be large enough to fit an A330 tanker

NATO, order for A330MRTT
Three European nations, led by the Netherlands, have jointly selected the A330MRTT.
Up to four will be purchased and will be operated by NATO on behalf of the Netherlands, Norway and Poland.
A firm order is expected in 2016 with entry into service in 2019-2020.

How about getting the PH-AON from KLM then? If I am not mistaken KLM is going to retire the first A330-200s quickly anyway....

http://www.aviation24.be/military-aircr ... ker-plane/
http://www.aviation24.be/military-aircr ... ker-plane/Belgium will invest 258 million euros in an air-to-air refuelling plane to expand European defence capacity.
The investment will increase the number of European tanker planes to eight from seven
and is part of a 2012 project to improve Europe’s capacity in this regard.
The planes remain the property of NATO.
At least some of these aircraft will be registered in the Netherlands and based in Eindhoven (southern Netherlands)
to replace the current KDC-10 tankers of the Dutch Air Force,
with an advanced base in Cologne (Germany).
The delivery of the first seven aircraft is expected between 2020 and 2022, according to Airbus.

The Dutch Airbus A330 tankers should look like this:

Even less colours than the current KDC-10s...

This will be a challenge for the paint shop: how many shades of grey do they have?Stratofreighter wrote:The Dutch Airbus A330 tankers should look like this:

At least it is good to see that they use the KC-30 (KC-30A?) designation, like the RAAF.
All the best,
Jonathan
KC-30s to carry M- regs
The latest issue of Onze Luchtmacht reports that the multinational KC-30s are to carry Dutch registrations in the M- series: M-001 through -008.
