Hi all,
found an old picture I took at Ramstein open house in the mid-to-end seventies, showing an
sand-brown-olive camouflaged F-5E with a rigid mounted air-refuelling probe in front of the cockpit (right side), which
made it definitely not an aggressor plane from RAF Alconbury.
Part of the serial on the fin read "00928/USAF. Searching for 70-0928 or 80-0928 led to nothing.
Nearest was 78-0928, which I doubt to be the aircraft concerned.
Maybe a delivery serial, only for transit to another air force and the aircraft just staying that weekend at Ramstein, so they
put it on show?
Otherwise I photographed an UFO -:))?
Any suggestions appreciated.
Regards
Tommy

Compromise is failure.

Could be Saudi F-5E 73-0928 on a delivery flight.
They have a fixed probe and 3-tone camo

Use the search mode for 73-0928 at planepictures.net and you'll find a b&w image of this one at Ramstein
