Interesting pictures, Peter.
Do you also have a full photograph of the 40576?
Thanks, Jan

I guess those observers need new glasses or were not there. The J-31 only used afterburners in take off were it got airborne in 1500ft and went into a vertical climb. The rest of the show was on military power only as it is still in its test phase. In fact it was more the opposite as most of its display was done on low power/idle. I found it very nimble and the climb after take off impressive and accellerating faster than the Su35 which was flying right after it.Richard from Rotterdam wrote:What did you make of the flight demonstration of the J-31? Comments of some international observers have been less than flattering. Apparently the jet is grossly underpowered and has to fly with after burner continuously to stay level?

A pic of the J-31 which clearly shows the display without using afterburners.Richard from Rotterdam wrote:What did you make of the flight demonstration of the J-31? But seriously: great additions again, thx a lot!

Climb to 20ft, we're leaving a dust trail

Very comforting pic. If the machine is indeed stealthy.... then a least we can find it by just following the smoke trail....P.Terlouw wrote:A pic of the J-31 which clearly shows the display without using afterburners.

Funny to see the Russian Sukhoi perform. Why don't the Chinese show off their J-11 of Su-30?

Because Sukhoi is still 'waiting' for China to close a deal for 24 Su-35s !CBR wrote:Funny to see the Russian Sukhoi perform. Why don't the Chinese show off their J-11 of Su-30?

Impressive! Peter, what were your impressions of the airshow? Also, did you consider staying for the departure day in order to get some fence free shots of the older Chinese aircraft like the H-6?

Yes I did consider staying longer but the Chinese airshows are very messy concerning arrival and departures. It is stretched out over a very long period with airplanes arriving and departing days and even weeks before and after the show. Also this year the weather was very unstable with light conditions changing with the hour.SquAdmin wrote:Impressive! Peter, what were your impressions of the airshow? Btw, the big absentee this year was the Chinese Army with no choppers at all, even though they celebrated their 75th Anniversary this year.
Here a few more from this years event:
21. Yes, also the Chinese have drones of which this GJ-1 is already in operational use
22. The J10's of the "August 1st" team are always nice to watch.
23. The H-6M is the basic bomber in the PLAAF inventory
24. The CRJ-700 is used by the 第34运输机师 based at Beijing-Xijiao for VIP transport for the PLAAF
25. J-31 in a dirty flyby
26. The Y-20 side on. It is a pretty big airplane as you can see compared to the people behind it next to the taxiway.
