The latest update on our discussions with countries and their air arms concerning aircraft participation.

Talks are ongoing with Egypt and received official notification that the Royal Moroccan Air Force intends to participate with one aircraft for static display, no type of aircraft determined yet.

We are awaiting further replies from the Belgian Air Force, Italian Air Force, Polish Navy and the Turkish Air Force on a final decision on their participation in this year's edition of the Malta International Airshow.

We have been informed that the Austrian Air Force, Finnish Air Force, Italian Navy, Japanese Air Force, Royal Air Force of Oman and the Serbian Air Force are unable to participate in the Malta International Airshow 2014.

The Armed Forces of Malta confirmed participation by a number of their assets for the Malta International Airshow 2014. The new addition to the Air Wing's capabilities will be the brand new AW139 helicopter which is expected to join AFM before the airshow date. MAS will try hard to have the AW139 as one of the prime participants at this year's airshow in the static display.

We are awaiting further replies from the Belgian Air Force, Italian Air Force, Polish Navy and the Turkish Air Force on a final decision on their participation in this year's edition of the Malta International Airshow.

Turkish Stars to shine in Malta - Update 29/05/2014

For the first time ever in the history of the Malta International Airshow, Turkey will be added to our list of participant countries.

The Turkish Air Force will be participating with the air force aerobatic team the Turkish Stars. The Mission of the Turkish Stars is to present the Turkish Air Force on a national and international platform and also to present the Republic of Turkey abroad. The team was formed on November 7, 1992 and was named the Turkish Stars on January 11, 1993.

The team performs its displays with 8 supersonic fighter jets, the Canadair NF-5s, obtained from the Royal Netherlands Air Force, making them one of the few national aerobatics teams to fly supersonic aircraft, and the only one with formations of eight supersonic jets. Twelve F-5s are available to the team. The team uses CN-235, C-130 Hercules and Transall C-160 support aircraft in Turkish Stars colours. It is stationed at the Konya Air Base of 3rd Main Jet Base Group Command.

The organizing committee is delighted to host the Turkish Stars, as this has made possible two new milestones for the airshow: the first time Turkey is participating and also it will be the first time that Malta's airshow hosts the Canadair NF-5. We are delighted to see the stars shining in Malta's skies.

Another nation has been added to this year’s record number of participating countries. The Hellenic Air Force has confirmed in writing that it plans to participate with an F-4 PI 2000 Phantom from Andravida Air Force Base in Greece at this year’s Malta International Airshow.

This came about after strong support from Malta’s Ambassador to Greece, H.E. Charles Stafrace, to whom the Malta Aviation Society is very grateful. This will be the second time Greece will be participating at the event after having participated in the 2005 edition with another F-4 Phanthom.

The Team on this year’s Malta Int’l Airshow warmly welcomes the return of the Hellenic Air Force.
