After two days, I can say yes and no. I too had some less expectations then usual. Because of the cancellations I thought, well let see what it brings us. And again it were two nice days, maybe also the company which I was in helped. Enjoyed the Alouettes, Airpower Demo, Red Arrows, Mig demo, the BBMF and the Dreamliner. KDC-10 with MD-11 fly-by was a bit of downer because the height and distance between the two A/C's, but the MD-11 came in nice.Kieran wrote:With the exception of the two Turkish F-4s, Slovak MiG 29 and the pair of UH-72s, this year's Open Dagen looks very, very poor.
As for the static. Well to bad a lot of KLu stuff was not really good for photo's. The FOB exhibit was so crammed saturday that I gave up hope to shoot the Apaches and Chinook. But hey, a visit to the normal workday at Gilze can cure that. 50 years Alouette tent was also more for the daytrippers then for the spotters getting a change to shoot the old birds. Really wanted a photo of the White one inside, but gave up hope when I saw all the daytrippers. But still there were some nice aircraft at the static. Yes I too missed the UH-72's, better luck next time.
Didn't experience a lot of negative points this year, except for the usual ones that aren't really worth mentioning over and over (like the two puppets (especially JC) for commentary and the speakers at the flightline (please put some more on the terrain itself then only at the flightline)).
Never experienced a fast getaway at the parking as saturday, didn't expected that after waiting 1,5 hours on friday to get of the parking lot, but choosing another parking was the trick.
Only real point of attention for me was the parkingticket, paying 5 euro's for something that wasn't checked upon leaving with your car. Why?
All in all, still a nice show for me. No the trick to fill the gap next year.
