Now Leeuwarden remains a main operating base ', similar to the other air bases. This allows the existing F-16s fly more hours continue until they are replaced by the JSF and unmanned aircraft. Furthermore Leeuwarden also get a flight simulator for the Chinook transport helicopter of the Air Force.
It makes sense to base UAV's like the MQ-9 close to the sea instead of the densely populated Brabant.
However The CH-47 sim so far away from the squadron remains a questionmark...

Same news about the Chinook Sim in the Leeuwarder Courant, same editorial team for both newspapers who read the MinDef article not correctly and presumed that it was also for Leeuwarden, as the MOB status of EHLW was mentioned in the same line of text.
Reading is a profession which was not teached to this journalist presumably :mrgreen:
