The fire was about 1 mile north of the airfield. When taking the shot of the Mi8 in front of the smoke, I was still at the airfield. When I saw the fire I drove up there. Later I drove to the beach in Trogir, straight south of the airfield. From there I took the water shot and the one with the church tower.
I wasn't staying in the Trogir area actually, I was closer to Zadar. I just had the feeling that spotting at Split would give something special and having arrived there this unique oppertunity proved my spotting instict right! :P
