Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |
Texel Airfield 22-07-2013 (An.2)
I heard that the An.2 from the RIAT planned to visit Texel Airfield for a refuel. So I took my bike on to the ferry and cycled to the airfield.
Now after Volkel Open House only one An.2 to go.
With lots of thanks for the hospitality to Ed and Mike de Bruin.
The An.2 will leave the tomorrow for Estonia via sweden.

No Falcon I wasn't. Before the plane went to its night spot another spotter (with a southern accent) scored the An.2 taxiing back from the refuel spot.
He is on a vacation on the island.

An "A" for effort for these folks, it's a long long way from Estonia to England with an Antonov An-2...

Getting off-topic, but 18/19 kilometers by bicycle from the ferry to the airport is "do-able". Just not in this heat I guess...ebauer wrote:Don't forget to mention the cycle trip from Jutter...Stratofreighter wrote:Yep, correct...Jutter wrote:Soms ga je naar the RIAT en soms komt the RIAT naar je toe.

Michel this is the best I have from the painting. (Blue Monday in top and something like William at the bottom I think)

By the way Google maps gives 15.3 km distance and I made it within 30 minutes back to catch the boat. And yes it was warm, but for a An.2 its worth it every drop of sweat.

Myself getting off-topic again: 15 kilometers in half an hour? That's about 30 km/h average speed. That is very swift, even allowing for the wind in your back.Jutter wrote: By the way Google maps gives 15.3 km distance and I made it within 30 minutes back to catch the boat. Wit this heat I suppose you were literally drenched in sweat by the time you got to the ferry...
