1. In a housing area north of Abdulrahman Saleh airport you can find this LiM-5, it is not a LiM-5P as the fake serial suggests.
2. Malang has an outdoor swimming pool in a park that also has this MiG-17F
3. Jombang is blessed with the OV-10 as well as a GAF N22 on the opposite side of the road
4. Jogyakarta's museum holds this A-4E that has now been freshly painted with its correct serial
5. The museum has also received a Bronco, the type was wfu when the EMB-314 was acquired
6. Super Pumas are assembled in Indonesia and are active in quite some numbers, this one is preserved in the museum
7. Visiting Herc at JOG to support the Jupiter Team's deplyoment to Langkawi for LIMA'13
8. One of the latest deliveries is this KT-1B, this particular example does not belong to the demo team
9. Luckily, the T-34C still flew!
10. The academy uses a few Cessnas for glider towing

Hi Lars,
No idea what the formal policy is but all the flying stuff above is from JOG and that is very easy going. The inbound aircraft over-pass the museum on approach and we were there the whole morning until early afternoon, quite in the open. Many military passed us by because the museum is on military grounds. They usually wave at you No 'normal' police which, I can imagine, do not understand your interest.
At Surabaya there is a small eatery with a gravel parking lot at the western threshold. This is often used by locals to stand and watch the aircraft. Stood / photographed there for a couple of hours, no problems either (only civvie stuff on approach unfortunately).
Malang, the terminal is on the south side and a dirt track on the north side. No activity when we were there.
Pondok Cabe, a busy road runs along the eastern perimeter. Good views from close by but too busy surroundings and a high fence would mean difficulty for taking pictures.
North side approach is good but you stick out when you step out of your car obviously
Bogor is quite open on the south side. Should be okay if you stay for a short period and remain in your car and only get out if a helicopter lands.
At Madiun-Iswahjudi. The north side approach (used for southerly landings) crosses a busy road. We stayed in the car and got out when something passed by. As it happens, this were only two (backlit) F-16s during our two hour spotting stint there.
Halim is a pain. You have to find a spot quite far from touchdown point. Access to the perimeter road is possible, depending more or less on luck, but that is no place to park, spot and take photopgraphs. Just for a quick peek.
At Jakarta IAP we stayed at the airport terminal hotel which has views of one half of the airfield traffic; the other half can be seen from the lowest numbered rooms although you need sbs to identify them, so that is technically not spotting. Photography not attempted there. Most airfields do have a viewing terrace. Locals are very friendly, food is very good and prices are very low (also for local flights). Paradise!
